Team Rocket's Ambition comes to Pocket
The Pokemon Company announced on August 20 that Pokemon TCG Pocket's next themed booster, Team Rocket's Ambition, releases on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. PDT. It is a 110-card set, 72 in the main list and 38 secret, built around Giovanni and Team Rocket, with Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres ex under Rocket colors and a new "Owner" card type. A month of missions, emblems and a puzzle campaign for pack hourglasses runs through September 29. Pocket matters to the paper market because it is where tens of millions of players meet card art for the first time; the Team Rocket set in 2000 is one of the most-collected vintage sets already, and a Pocket spotlight tends to send new buyers to the originals.
Mega Forces tins, August 28
Three Mega Forces tins ship on August 28, each with booster packs of the current Mega Evolution sets and lid art of Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Darkrai ex or Mega Zeraora ex. Tins are a second wave of pack openings for sets already on shelves, and they arrive the same week The Pokemon Company revealed Delta Reign for November. More supply of Ascended Heroes and Pitch Black, more attention on what comes next: that combination is why modern chase prices stay soft mid-series.
TCG Live's fall update
Pokemon TCG Live's development team published a community letter on August 14 framing a "2026 Fall Study Season for Regionals": a returning Battle Board, competitive deck offers, Build & Battle and Bitty Basic Brawl Trainer Trial events from September 3 to 15, and "one of our biggest updates yet" on September 15. The update adds accessibility settings that let players turn off card and gameplay effects. The interesting detail for the paper game is timing: the digital client getting a major update the day before the 30th Celebration set releases on September 16.
Worlds, a week out
The 2026 Pokemon World Championships run August 28 to 30 in San Francisco at the Moscone Center, with top-cut TCG, VGC and GO matches on the Chase Center main stage, as part of the PokemonXP festival. Worlds weekend reliably lifts sealed product and the singles in the winning decks, and this year it lands on the same day as the Mega Forces tins.
