For the week of September 27 to October 2, Card Ladder's five largest trading card sales were all Pokemon, for the sixth time in eight weeks, and came to $10,534,650. One card was 80 percent of that. The other four are more interesting.

The reverse Pikachu
Legendary Collection (2002) reprinted Base Set, Jungle, Fossil and Team Rocket cards with a reverse holo version of every card in a distinctive fireworks foil. The foil scratches and shows print lines so readily that PSA 10 reverse holos from the set are among the scarcest grades in English Pokemon. On September 18 the reverse Charizard made $575,000 at Heritage; on September 27 the reverse Pikachu, a common, made $780,000. A Pikachu out-pricing a Charizard from the same set and the same foil says the population report, not the character, is what is being bought. Legendary Collection is one of our twelve vintage sets, read flat for most of August for lack of comps, and has now read +7.2 percent and +15.0 percent in the two readings since the engine resumed.
The Japanese Rayquaza Gold Star
The English EX Deoxys Rayquaza Gold Star made $1.02 million in CGC 10 Pristine on August 30 and $192,000 in a plain CGC 10 the same week. The Japanese printing, from the 2004 Clash of the Blue Sky set, had not been tested at that level; on Thursday a First Edition copy in BGS 10 sold on eBay for $562,650. It sits between the two English results, which is roughly where a Japanese First Edition with a Black Label-adjacent grade should sit, and it is the first six-figure eBay sale of a Japanese Gold Star we can find.
Misdreavus and the second Kyogre
Neo Revelation has now produced two of the month's top-five cards: the Ampharos at $600,000 privately on September 22 and the Misdreavus, a First Edition holo of a Pokemon nobody collects, at $408,000. That is the set being re-priced as a set. And Team Aqua's Kyogre EX sold for the second time in three weeks: $348,000 on Alt on September 10, $384,000 at Fanatics on September 27. A second sale 10 percent above the first, on a 2015 card, is the kind of confirmation the Double Crisis repricing needed.
